Assessment in the Foundation Stage Classroom

The Early Years are profiled in a summary which describes children's attainment at the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

It gives:

the child’s attainment in relation to the 7 early learning descriptors
a short narrative describing the child’s 3 characteristics of effective learning

There are a range of activities upon which the teachers draw their judgements in relation to the Early Learning Goals including playing and exploring, active learning and creative or thinking critically. At the end of the year a child's learning will be judged as:
